IDFG takes gold with “Drop Gun”
Des Moines, IA – “Drop Gun,”
a short film produced by the Iowa Digital Filmmakers Guild and
Mississippi Films, Inc., was awarded six statues at the 2009 Iowa
Motion Picture Association Awards, held May 8 at the Renaissance
Savery Hotel in Des Moines.
The 12-minute crime drama, a collaboration
between Iowa City-based IDFG and the Burlington producers of “Beneath
the Mississippi,” won Awards of Excellence for Best Actress,
Jennifer Fontaine; Best Director, Lonnie Schuyler; Best Director
of Photography, Eric Dean Freese; and Best Editor, Phillip Manke.
The film also earned Awards of Achievement
in Short Form Entertainment Program (Bruce Heppner-Elgin and Tim
Anderson, producers, Lewayne White, writer) and Lighting Design
(Eric Dean Freese, DP, Jon Van Allen, Gaffer).
Drop Gun follows Detective Reynolds (Fontaine) in her pursuit
to bring serial pedophile Martin (Matthew Brewbaker) to justice.
When a young girl is assaulted, vengeance consumes Reynolds and
she confronts Martin, her finger on the trigger of a drop gun.

Bruce Heppner-Elgin, “Davis,” May Anderson, “Ellie

assistant propmaster; and Mike Saunders, visual effects.
Drop Gun recently won the Gold Eddy for Professional Short Film
at the 2009 Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival, held April
4 at Collins Road Theatres in Marion, Iowa.

"Drop Gun" is Official Selection
for the 2009 Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival
Cedar Rapids, IA – "Drop Gun,"
a short film produced by the Iowa Digital Filmmakers Guild and
Mississippi Films, Inc, has been selected for screening at the
2009 Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival, April 3-4 at the
Collins Road Theatres, Marion Iowa. The film will be shown twice
over the weekend, and compete for prizes to be given at the Eddy

Mississippi Films, Inc. won the Gold Eddy

"Drop Gun" feature-length
film optioned
Burlington, IA – Tim Anderson of Mississippi
Films Inc. has optioned the film rights to "Drop Gun"
penned by Lewayne White of Des Moines. Jennifer Fontaine (Look,
Glass Houses) has signed on to play a lead role. Anderson hopes
to start pre-production on 'Drop Gun' in early 2009.
White submitted a short script for "Drop
Gun" to an Iowa Digital Filmmakers Guild competition in spring
2008. The short film, co-produced by the IDFG and Mississippi
Films Inc., and starring Fontaine and Matt Brubaker, was shot
in June 2008 and is currently being submitted to film festivals.
